what do you make of living the RR nfty?

I love the look of it and the size/weight is perfect, but i've only sat on it, just passed my test.

Everyone here tells me it's too hardcore for my 75 mile commute and i should go for an R6 or a CBR 600F
Absolutely love it, although I don't have a 75 mile commute. I've ridden it for 200 miles at a time though (round-trip).

If you can flat-foot it (e.g. not a midget like me ) even stop and go traffic is bearable.

If you truly want comfort though I'd say find a nice Honda Hornet (CB599) or a CBR F4i. The R6 is definitely less comfortable than a CBR RR, unless you Britons get a different R6 from what we get across the pond.

Another option of course, is the ever present Suzuki GSX-R. The GSX-Rs are by far the most comfortable sportbikes I've sat on (I've never sat on a Hayabusa, but I heard that's downright couch-like compared to the thin vinyl/foam thing Honda calls a seat on the CBR RR).

The R6 is probably the worst of the lot in the 600ss class for commuting comfort, people are advising the older generation R6's ( ie not the one above ) Best thing i would suggest is if you want the Honda, see if one of the dealers will allow you to go for a decent test ride on one thats at least a good hour and see how you get on. Then wait a few days and see if you get any aches and pains in the back and wrists. If not then cool, if so, try something else.
Back can't be helped if you're above a certain height, however the wrists? Place the "balls" of your feet on the pegs and shift your weight rearwards on the seat, as a novice I was placing too much weight onto the handlebars of my RR and my wrists would be killing me in about 20mins or so... after shifting weight? 200 miles was no problem.

The older R6, pre 05, was comfortable. There was no way I was going to commute on the current shape R6 so I changed to an R1 in 05.

Sat on the new shape R1 at the bike show @ Excel earlier this year and no way for a commuter! The RR was a lot better, but from all the comments on the CBR forum, what is said above is correct!

P, thats exactly the bike I have in mind, or an old school NC30!

It's the time of year again when I need to insure this bike - this time it is a 2 year NCB but an aftermarket exhaust and a PCIII. Bennetts are saying

The 07 R6 I rode last year had the most ludicrously peaky engine I've ever ridden. Made my ZX6R feel like a Harley afterwards. Great for the track, daft on the road. You'd need to be doing 50 even in 1st gear to find any power.

The RR was much better but a pretty hardcore riding position. The Triumph Daytona's engine is wonderful but again the riding position is not ideal for commuting.

I went for a Street Triple in the end as I decided my back just wasn't up to sports bikes. Best decision I ever made, it's a wonderful bike and perfectly suited to a beginner but with plenty in reserve as you improve (I've been riding nearly 30 years FWIW).

But I imagine if you have a big trip to make each day you'll prefer something faired, in which case it has to be the CBR600F, there's really nothing to fault it on.

Give confused.com a go. They were best for me. Bennetts were too much!
