So... it's all a little complicated ...

Would I be correct in saying that, after passing the CBT one is only allowed to ride upto a 125 unless you are accompanied on the road by an instructor? Until the following direct access test is passed.
And you can't, at any stage, have a bigger bike with L-plates on.

You would be correct.

To get my licence I did a dircet acess course over 2 weekends with my test on the following Monday.

Yes you can as long as its been restricted to 33bhp, mind you i did my test a few years ago now and its probably changed several times.

The 33bhp restriction is if you pass your full test on a 125cc bike.

IIRC with a CBT you are restricted to 12bhp.

I've got the direct access course lined up for the end of June with the test on the last day. It's the earliest available test slot they had.

Still not decided on the bike yet.
The lure of the Harley is very strong, and will be hard to resist.
I am thinking that I should probably start off a little more sensibly though.
Honda do some nice cruisers as well
