I think some of the new "super glue ultra gel" will be flexible enough for the location of the crack in my fairing and this post from the CBR forums gives me hope:

"spoke to 2 plastic welders and they both said that plastic welding will require a respray of the area.

they both reconmend to join the crack with super glue then reinforce the back with fibre glass."

So off to Halfords tonight!

Oops

Nail varnish remover is good - but it has to contain acetate IIRC

p.s. not sure if it'll have any nasty effects on the paintwork though. . .

Yes, that is a concern. Luckily the superglue residue is over the tiny broken off corner so a quick spray and lacquer won't be the end of the world, if needs be.

A guy in a CLK tried to beat me off the lights on the way in

Sounds bad Pip. Want some super glue for the fairing?

Received this morning the carbonfibre Scorpion exhaust I won on ebay. Looks in mint nick - very pleased I'll fit it whilst I have the right hand fairing off - I've glued it together (photos taken for your benefit, Dan) and I've successfully removed the excess glue. I'm going to buy some gloss black enamel paint from the model shop nearby just to tidy up the fine white line which indicate the crack. I'll also put a couple of layers of fibreglass on the back to reinforce the point, as suggested by Dan.

Hopefully all up and running this weekend

Well done Craig I'm ok for superglue though, thanks
Make sure we have more photos when the can is on. Hopefully with the Power Commander in too you will notice some more grunt. Possibly worth considering fitting a K&N air filter now too.
