Anyone ever ridden a KTM 990 Adventure?
No, but my best friend has. He has ridden off road bikes since he was a little nipper so he can't compare it to a road bike (he has only ridden mine!) but he thought the 990 was surprisingly smooth and cornered great, hiding its weight very well.

My research has indicated a few fuel/ECU problems on these - one of which the standard fix seems to be "just let it idle for 15 minutes to let the ECU settle down" - every 200 miles

Nearest dealer is 40 odd miles away, so less keen now, although sounds like a lot of fun.

K1200s I really quite fancy now if I can justify the cost somehow (and be prepared to deal with the bolts that corrode and shear quite easily it seems).

Or I could just buy a cheap VFR like the one Bob mentioned above to tide me over the winter and then think again ...................

Bit of advice please.

I'm planning on getting a bike soon, but have no kit.

I've been to the local Hein Gericke shop today. It was all very sparkly!

Winter's here so should I go for textiles as opposed to leather? I don't plan on specifically riding in the wet though.

Boots - they recommended a nice looking pair of Alpinestars (c

Checked my CBR's odometer tonight - 450 miles since May 1st. It would be embarrassing were it not the fact I bet Dan has only beaten that by riding on the track (and can't keep his bike vertical on it)
