Not really sure.
I like the look of nakeds but don't want to get blown about too much.
I've heard the Suzuki SV650(S) is a pretty decent bike that's beginner friendly and there seem to be plenty about to chose from.

I think we're about due a Woolly Bike Tour
Kawasaki Versys seems a lot of useful bike for the money - I was thinking about getting one as a second bike for a while, but never got around to testing one. Supposed to tour/do longer runs OK.
Worth a look maybe.
