Donington was great
I started off in the intermediate group which had a few race boys and some other people who should have probably been in the advanced group and I was being overtaken by everything.
That didn't do my confidence any good. At the end of the session I realised that I hadn't done a trackday (other than the RAF airfield day one) for about 3 years so I was very rusty.
I made the decision that I would get myself moved down in to the novice group. I'm glad I did.
On my first novice session I felt much more comfortable, giving myself time to learn the circuit better without worrying about people flying past me, although I did get passed by a few people.
After that I felt much happier and I was improving well. For the last 3 sessions I wasn't overtaken by anything!!
Great day out, although a slight dampner in that one of my mates was involved in a collision - which if it was a race would have been a racing incident, but as it was a trackday I would say it was a young lad being a tit

My Astro R I have mixed views of:
Pros: Quality, comfort, excellent venting, weight
Cons: Shitty visor change mechanism, VERY NOISY
It's finally OK with custom fitted earplugs, but I will probably look for something quieter when it needs replaced

Pretty much echoes my thoughts on my current lid.
Every seems to love Arais bar the noise and the visor mechnaism.
I can't find anyone recommending anything else other than Shoei and they don't fit my head.
Dunno if that's just misguided brand loyalty or not...
I might look into Roofs again, I really don't like wearing earplugs and it sounds (pun not intended) like Arais are as noisy as ever.

It is a little noisy, but I've only ever had Arais so nothing to compare it with.
The visor mechanism is far from being fiddly, open visor fully, pull the 2 levers up and lift the visor a bit more.

Noisy
Don't you guys wear earplugs?
I have two Arai helmets I use. An RX7 in the summer for the venting and a Quantum F in winter to keep my head a bit warmer.
I do swap visors and never have a problem.
