Anyone know of someone actually being done by a forward facing camera van (by the operator taking your number down when you pass)? I know in theory this is an option, but have not come across it actually happening.

I encountered one on the A9 (60 limit) yesterday morning, and slowed to 65 when I saw it, but was doing 70 beforehand. Judging by the range these guys seem to get, I imagine he must have been able to pick me up (especially as I was dressed like a seriously out of shape Mr Motivator and the first vehicle in a line of traffic)

I think you may be lucky , with a 10% plus 2mph giving you a hopefully alowed 68mph , plus your clock showing fast i suspect it was more effort than it was worth for him.

A guy i know in traffic says you have to be very good with any of the guns, hand or tripod mounted to get a reading first time from a bike

That's what I'm hoping for (based on the fact that I seem to be going faster around certain corners according to my speedo than I did in the S2000 now, it must be over-reading a fait bit )

I suppose when I first saw him he would only have seen my lid anyway, and must struggle to get a reading off that.

Must be developping a 6th sense for these things as I had just come off a DC and had an open clear road in front so normally wouldn't be going as slow as 70 in those conditions.

Had to follow a Police transit at NSL + 10% for 50 miles up the same road heading North on Thursday night

blimey San.. save yourself a few quid and do this yourself.
really easy to do for all the task listed. Doubt you need to change the oil, but do it if you wish.

most important thing to check after a layover is the tyre pressures.

Saw a guy wiped out at the weekend - cold tyres + 90degree bends + good speed = lowside. it was his first ride out after winter. He only got 2 miles down the road.
Would like to Neil, but don't fancy taking the risk of cocking it up on a motorbike.

Dan...may nip up at some point next week.

just had a notification of intended prosecution through for exactly this - 59 in a 50.

Letter issued to me as registered keeper asking if I knew who the driver was. I admitted I was the rider (had no one else I could ask to 'volunteer') and as I remembered seeing the van ahead of me on the verge and thought I had slowed sufficiently I wrote stating that I had checked my speed and in my opinion was within the speed limit and asked for a copy of the photographic proof they said they had.

I then got a conditional offer of fixed penalty form as well as a photo (front view) with speed indicated on bottom of screen together with copy of calibration certificate for the gun!

Now got the choice of paying fine and 3 points or taking 'option' of contesting allegation in court.

Do you want the hassle of going to court?

Have you got the capacity on your licence to take the 3 points?

Do you think you'll get away with it if you go to court?

I think I'd just take the points - save the extra hassle

Is it worth contesting?

Do you want the hassle of going to court?

Did you do it?

Do you think you'll get away with it?

Can your licence take 3 points?

I would probably just take the points and fine, unless there is a real possibility that you can get off
