Give it time and you will feel more comfortable with the wheel coming up
It feels like the wheel is much further off the ground than it actually is as you have the fork extension first before the wheel lifts

i agree, though im sure half the time once the forks have unloaded the tyre is only a mm off the road!!
what looks more fun is getting the back wheel of the ground during braking....
imagine balance needs to be spot on for that one!
