if you have 75mm posts in there now , put 100mm , they stand up to a lot more.
I think we are going to have concrete posts in the replacement

Lots of the current wooden ones seem to have rotted quite badly

Oh and to stay slightly O/T I had to get stuff out of the shed today, so I actually touched the bike

Went for a nice ride and met up with Jamie for lunch. Windy, but fun.
Did he manage to keep up?

Is he going to do his bike test soon so he can appreciate real acceleration?

Well I went for a blat this afternoon with me in the Elise and Jo in the 7.

Why so relevant to a bike ing thread then? Well on one road a bike was filling my minuscule rear window with his head light, he really was sitting on my back bumper. Anyway the traffic in front all clears so I accelerate and yep, the bike is still sitting there. No surprises.

So the next thing is a pretty strong RH corner, about 70 degrees round. SO I kept going at the pace we were at and didn't lift at all. Whaddya know, no bike. He must have lost 50% of his speed to get round. He then accelerated to over 100 mph to over take me.

Classic straight line warrior.

The point being is this needn't have happened if he hadn't been dazzling me in my rear view mirror.

what part of the country do you reside in at the moment ?
Edinburgh area - I can get to the Borders in 20 minutes, but I've done those roads to death in the S. Perth or Stirling are each c 40-50 minutes away.

i doubt he was dazzling you intentionally, the bike is a lot taller than you, so his dipped light will be horiziontal with your mirrors.

Or maybe he thought you were driving like a knob and then...

and most times a car is going to be able to carry the speed around a bend better than a bike. just look at the contact patch four square car tyres have v 2 round bike ones.

Neil all that is understood and in reflection on the occasion my issue is that a lot of the time we hear that drivers shouls appreciate and consider the situation for motor cyclists more etc etc in the media.

Well it's a give and take thing.

And as for him thinking I was driving like a knob - I was behind 2 other cars doing the limit on a pretty straight road, so either his opinion was way off the mark or he was just impatient.

Not for long

Went out for the first ride out of the year this morning. A bit wet but very nice on the whole.

Free BMW to anyone in Devon

Been washed up on the beach in sealerd containers after being lost from the stricken cargo ship

from BBC news

Branscombe Police's Pc Steve Speariett said "a couple of hundred people" were on the beach on Sunday night with the same number again scavenging on Monday.

Around 50 BMW motorbikes were carried off the beach last night

Finders keepers?

"Around 50 BMW motorbikes were carried off the beach last night," he added.

Gareth Topping told BBC News he had pulled one of the motorbikes out of a container.

"It took about eight to 10 of us to lift each one out. As each one came out the front wheels were put on, then they were taken down to the beach and over the cliffs," he said.

Where do they stand legally?

Is it theft or salvage or what?
