How many miles will you rack up on the trip Neil?

I assume you don't know how far south the Arctic circle goes?
Yeah, glad you told me.

normally we do about 2500-3000miles in 7 to 10 days, depending on weather and waitresses.

In scotland IME, daily mileage would only depend on the weather

San, Craig - something to look forward to next year..........

I have just renewed my insurance and it is almost half last year's premium
I can reduce mine further by limiting annual mileage to 500 miles....only been out on it for probably ten miles in total - the slow speed handling is so different that, combined with poor road conditions which make me concerned about the grip, I am somewhat windy on the bike at the moment.

I've checked out a local map and found an industrial area which I'm going to ride around when the weather is better one weekend, just to practice leaning the bike over on the same corners, time and time again, and practice emergency stops to better understand the bike's stopping distances (with a ham handed biker on it!).

I used to spend time practising slow speed stuff in a posh suburb of town - doing circuits and junctions for an hour or so. Locals clearly thought I was mad. Took me a long time to cope with the weight of the VFR.

My slow control is still really cr@p though - I only use the bike for long weekend rides up north or a day down in the Borders etc, so never get any practice in town.

First time it's been totally dry on the roads on my bike (on the journey to work) today.

Had to go into work for an emergency....made a normally 45 minute journey in the car in 25 today on the bike. Absolute, adrenaline instilling fun!

Would have been quicker except I almost went up the arse of a cop car. I spent the next 5 mins sticking to 70.

I think the secret is to massage the rear brake, and feather the clutch. Took me a while though, and maybe easier on the 600 compared to your viffer euan.
