That's true I suppose. Perhaps unless they are recent, the drivers titles are only memorable if they were particularly dominant, the title was hard fought, or it was a big name driver.

Whereas with a constructor title, it's easy to remember the form a team had in a given year, making it easier to recall which team won?

I'm talking about Mr Average

Obviously real fanatics would have better recall

But try this quiz

Winning Manufacturer Winning Driver

1965-1989

For the public, this may be true.

In the industry, it's the opposite.

As I alluded to in my post in 'How to make F1 more of a spectacle' - the industry really doesn't care about whether you remember them or not. The money doesn't come from the public.
So it's really drivers cup for the fans, constructors for the industry. The only problem I have with that theory is that surely the manufacturers must care whethe you remember or not, as that is their primary reason for being in F1 - exposure.

I was only born in '79 so I won't exactly be able to recall from memory.

it's an old test, but can you name the five F1/GP drivers with a first or second name matching a Scottish town/city?

clue - there used to be four until recently.....

More often than not the same team win both championships, so I'm not sure it's all that relevant.

Here's the four (highlight the rest of the line: Stirling (Moss), (Johnny) Dumfries, (Eddie) Irvine, and Ayr town centre (Ayrton Senna).

#5 Lewis (Hamilton) ??? I think - not sure as this refers to an Isle, not a town / city.

Lewes is an island, but Hamilton is just south of Glasgow.....
