Default F1:: British Grand Prix Silverstone

OK the UK Grand Prix arrives, having visited the testing last week I can say that the Maclarens look very quick around Silverstone, and given that it is Lewis Hamilton's home GP I have great expectations ... not sure that the car is fast enough to beat the Ferrari's (although the testing would allude to that), but with the threat of wet weather likely I think Maclaren can get back to the front with maybe a 1st and 3rd on the podium.

Has anyone been listening to the British GP trailer they've been running on BBC 5Live?

Reporter: "Do you think you had winning equipment last year?"

Lewis: "No."

Didn't he win 4 GPs last year? Wonder how appreciated the team feel after those comments ...

Yeah that sounds more likely Steve, as the Ferraris were a long way better last year.

If the car's crap he should be entitled to say so. I know he won't but....

I can remember a quote of Irvine's not long after he got his 'dream move' to Ferrari, "The car was brick-slow..."

We need more Eddie Irvines in F1

Coulthard's announced his retirement.

This means I'm now older than the entire F1 grid.

I cant wait for Silverstone, I've got grandstand seats this year...

I've not been to an actual Grand Prix for 14 years, so I am super excited :-D I've been to the odd testing session over the past few years, but I've not heard the V8s in action yet...

Wow. I think he's driving better now than he ever has!

Oh well, look forward to him in Le Mans perhaps?

As RISLAR said, this comment was specifically regarding the car at Silverstone where it was clearly a long way off the pace of the Ferrari's.

I suspect it will be closer this year, but still off their ultimate race pace.

The McLaren was (and to an extent remains) better than the Ferrari on slower circuits where a bit of curb hopping helps lap times.
