UF, the trouble is, I doubt one will leave the show room for under 60k, certainly none at 58k. Most will be 65+ I am sure. I really hoped they would pitch it a little lower down the league, but it wasn't to be. For me, it should have been base at nearer 40k that would have made it a viable option for a much wider audience. But like I said earlier, I am sure Jaguar know their market audience and I am clearly not it.

They haven't really; the currency has collapsed. Fiat money leads to expensive FIATs. It's how the gov't intends to rob the prudent blind & forgive the profligate.

It's also that the marketingwankers have convinced TC Mits that instead of being satisfied with a crappy FIAT or Opel or somesuch, he now has to perspire towards a supposedly "exclusive" creditbubblemobile where the desirable options are stupidly expensive. So yes, what your lease copmany ends up paying is about 50% more than the teaser list price.

 

...which is why the smaller manufacturers are chasing upmarket. The alleged premium brands are now sales rep fodder, now that clever leasing companies have found a way to package the credit.

Look at the new Hang Over; it's bigger than Wales & costs slightly more. The very rich require something very exclusive.

 

Exclusive these days is being able to say you own the car outright from new .... except who wants that - you'd be better off leasing it and giving it back

 

Lease companies pay peanuts for motors direct from oem, no glass fronted £4m quid dealer showroom with 40 staff to pay for.

But regardless I don't go near new, now is supposed to be the time and I have seen delivery mileage e9x M3s for relative small change but they will still drop 15k in 2 years unlike my old knacker

Except you can only usually lease over 3 years and they're the most expensive three years of ownership.

Having said that, most modern cars only have 3 years' warranty and after that, they're an absolute ticking bomb.

It's likely to be interesting a few years down the road; what will become of modern rubbish when it's old enough to be out of warranty, but hasn't hit junk status yet? It'll reach near-junk status @ 4 years old, if you're feeling lucky, punk.

Someone will probably introduce sub-prime leasing of 3 YO cars, which will promptly go wrong and bankrupt their impecunious, foolhardy lessees...can't wait!
