Default Ever had your insurance policy voided or claim declined?

Hi All,

Pretty much as the tag line says... I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has had an insurance policy voided or cancelled by an Insurer or Broker or anybody who has had a claim repudiated. Ideally, I'm looking for experiences on Consumer Lines policies, i.e. motor, home, pet etc. as opposed to Commercial Lines.

Thanks in advance

Ray

I had a policy cancelled a few years back due to a job change, they gave me 24 hours notice and since it had 3 months to run no refund, bastards. Think it was the company that uses Iggy Pop to advertise it. That created quite a panic that evening I can tell you.

yes, due to me forgetting to declare a minor knock which subequently turned up on a check

since declaring the knock would apparently have led them to decline offering me a policy (which I still find hard to believe, as most insurers would just increase the premium) they cancelled the policy

it has been inconvenient on occasion, since I have had to answer "yes" to the question about cancelled policies

and that means some insurers will automatically not quote

however, if I go offline and speak to a human it isn't a problem

Mate of mine had his insurance declared void because he failed to declare 3 points at the start of the policy that had expired at the time of his accident (5 years). Like gad, they said they wouldn't have insured him (which is boll0cks) and he lost out on his 6 month old RX-8. Not good.
