Diesel smoke on startup and runs rough
Anyone like to offer their opinion as to why my MY07 Citroen Dispatch (1.6HDi 90) van has started throwing out a puff of what looks to be blueish smoke when started from cold? It also runs slightly rough for about 10 seconds before subsequently running perfectly.
It only seems to happen when it's been left for >6 hours. It doesn't necessarily struggle to start but it doesn't seem to fire quite as quickly as it did previously. I have got a decent battery though so possibly that could be masking that symptom slightly.
I was thinking it could be worth changing the glow plugs to see if that was the cause but reading around there seems to be mixed opinions on whether these do much on a modern diesel unless it's very cold out.
Cheers

Change your glow plugs.
My focus tdci did it until I changed my plugs. Only 2 were working correctly.....

Anyone done them on this engine before?
I'm reading reports of them shearing off if you don't do them when hot/being relatively inaccessible round the back of the engine.
I'm pretty handy and service all my own vehicles and even done a clutch or two in the past but will take it to a garage if its risky!

Haha I'm pretty sure its a Ford/PSA collaboration on the engine. I took a look under the bonnet today and could barely see the glow plugs with a mirror. Definitely going to a garage! I don't need that hassle.
