Default DC5's

IIRC a couple of members on here have owned a DC5??

I was looking at DC2's but they all seem a bit too leggy especially as even though it would be a second car it will still see some frequent use.

Compared to the prices of UK DC2's the DC5's look to be better value IMO.

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on them, I haven't seen many in the road, I think they are all JDM

How are they to run / track / frequent use??

DC5s are indeed imports.

Mark (MB) owned and tracked one. Do a search, I'm sure it'll bring up a few of his old posts.

HTHs

Leggy? It's a Honda FFS. Not some alleged 'prestige' brand that needs a bag or two spending on premature wear it every year.

I've only been a passenger in a DC5. More comfortable than s DC2, not as handly. But better than an EP3, but what isn't?

I have a DC5 and I love it to bits. The suspension is a bit stiff so can be a bit crashy on the UK roads but they're fantastically well balanced when you're pushing them to the limit. The ivtec engine is a bit more flexible than in the S, that combined with the weight being 100 kilos lighter than the S makes it a potent weapon.

The gear change isn't quite as good as the S but then what is. The steering is a bit heavier than the S but the LSD can be quite intrusive on day to day driving but when you're pushing on it really comes in useful.

In terms of spirited driving the DC5 requires less talent to get the best out of it but I'm sure the S is more rewarding, it's well balanced and the standard spec is pretty good (although there are loads of mods available for it).

I've taken mine on the track and it's great fun, you can really take it to the limit and the car is always well behaved and controllable.

They're all JDM's and they only facelifted it once with the main difference being in cosmetic with a few minor suspension mods.

Here a few piccies of mine

I really liked mine, Ivtec is superb and the K20a is much nicer than the F20c.

Mine had a few mods, was very practical, amazing mpg and felt like a race car.

I didn't enjoy it much on track though, as I just don't really like FWD.

I'd take one over a DC2 though, as it had all the bits I wanted a DC2 to have (more poke basically) but not quite as sharp on the downside...

Actually my first S2000 was one of the least reliable cars I have owned, so I'm not sure about this rose tinted reliability people go on about.

Maybe I was unlucky

I don't see putting 5 - 6k into a 80k mile + car as VFM compared to the prices of a DC5.

I had a freshly imported DC5 a couple of years ago.

Fantastic car and coupled with a Gruppe M intake, very cool.

I owned a 2001 blue DC5 before the S.
Loved it. Steering feels heavier, the Recaro seats are superb. Looks great. And it's easier to drive fast.

Downside I found is the insurance is a lot higher than on the S2000. Plus as it's an import I found it hard to trade against a non import car. (dealers didn't want to take it) But I'm in Ireland so not sure whether it would be the same in the UK.

I drove my mates several years back and i really liked it, i think he had a gruppeM intake i cant remember. The only thing i didnt like TBH was the interior.

Super car in my 'limited' experience, not a lot in it performance wise between an S (mine had decat+snorkle ATT) and DC5 - i just pipped my mate (on a private road of course).

I've managed to blow mine up & fry the diff, but who hasn't?

But the DC5's merely a riced Civic and there is enough statistical evidence that those and Preludes and stuff are utterly reliable.

Unless you think a weeping gaiter & a dodgy fast idle control valve in a combines 160,000 miles with our two is unreliable.

'Tis why I have difficulty in taking the self-aggrandisement brands anything like seriously. And they depreciate like stones, whereas the rare Hondas depreciate like weighty feathers.
