Seems the same applies to cars looking at the votes.

I've been involved in two bumps on the road.

First one involved me pulling up behind another car at a roundabout. I'd nearly come to a stop and was watching the roundabout for a gap. I saw a good size gap and so started to go for it. Unfortunately the car infront didn't Minor damage to my car and a new rear bumper for him.

Totally my fault though.

Second one involved an American in London looked left and then turned right at a give way in front of me and i went into the side of him. Totally his fault and settled in full. I was quite shaken up at the time, but shortly after the event i remembered that the foot well of his car had an open vodka bottle in it and rang the police. Unfortunately it turned out he was from an American airbase and the police weren't allowed on the base to interview him until the following day.

1) <24h after passing driving test - young & stupid. 3 lane roundabout - mobile library van on inside lane and comes straight across to turn off at the next junction. since i was joining roundabout i got the blame. insurance claim

2) reversing a van at work, i somehow completely missed the brand spanking new van behind me (didnt yet have tax or plates). reversed into the side of it causing a hand-span area of damage. private land and company owned vehicles so settled internally and nothing on my record.

3) span the S2000 within 1 month of owning my 1st RWD car. mixture of no experience in RWD, and first rain after summer. roads were greasy, i panicked when the back end slipped out, and just kissed the barrier. my fault, no other parties involved.

4) pulled out from a junction, 1/2 way across a road (1 side was clear), and stopped. car behind me didn't stop and piled into the back of my S. settled outside of insurance at her cost.

Oops. Completely forgot a time in York late 80s when I was rear-ended at traffic lights. My Rover Metro hire car was written off - I was only JUST able to force the door open to get out. The guy hit me at the best part of 50mph. VERY loud bang!! The car that hit me was a Mark 1 Escort. Driven by a young guy that had just passed his test and who thought he was in an outside lane per se rather than a filter lane for turning right and he had NOT seen me at all..... And get this - and I sh!tteth you not - the guy was called Mr Bean.....

Not sure whether to vote yes or no.

I was rear-ended while in the S. The car was static and I was indicating to turn in to a works car park. A delivery van travelling too fast with the driver probably too engrossed with his phone hit the back of me. I managed to take minor avoiding action when I saw the driver lock up the wheels in the rear view mirror though..

Other than that, no car accidents since receiving my car licence 20 years ago. I've had a few lucky escapes though.

I think that having ridden motorbikes for a few years helps one to avoid accidents where possible.
