Can't stop thinking about 360 modenas

Mark, as it happens my Lotus is at an independant Ferrari specialist for it's upgrades this week.
He races a 355 himself, and looks after most of the exotic cars round here (and there are a lot, a sunny day will drive all sorts out of the barns and garages) but specialises in Ferrari. When I dropped the Lotus off there were 2 race 355s and an E Type in the workshop, with a mint X1/9 outside.
In the office was a chap in there looking to source a 355, they do the legwork, check the car out and charge a commission - that would take a lot of the risk out of buying a car I imagine.
The garage itself is nothing to look at, just a small village garage with an average staff age of 60+ but they know their stuff - it's probably an hour from Bournemouth and a nice drive if you avoid the main roads. I'm sure I can supply a cuppa this end too
Might be worth a call to them, or a visit - http://www.reeders.co.uk/

that probably represents less than a weeks take home earnings for the person who bought it and as such is probably insignificant to him.

That kind of loss is not acceptable to (almost) anybody.
Bare in mind that people who own (new) Ferrari's also own everyday expensive cars and have other expensive tastes.
The point is that the car lost over a third of its value in the first year.
And it is not some mass produced chav chariot.
Ferrari are still exclusive cars.
And he was not at all happy at losing that amount, so YES, it did bother him.
Or do you think that because people are rich they like to lose money??

I have a pretty romantic view of Ferraris and such like - purchasing one is like acquiring a piece of art. Buy it for what it is and how it makes you feel at the time.
Sure a Ferrari will cost - although one might score if values of the desirable stuff rise - but it's the stuff of great memories. My daughters still recall with great affection crazy drives in my humble Mondial.
My mum has just coughed up

Makes for interesting reading
The fact that running costs are the main part of the discussion says a few things I can put up with running costs, as long as they aren't reliability related / beakdowns. Wear and tear is kind of acceptable.
Do these cars have much that will go wrong?
Mark, thanks for the info! If I go through with something of this nature (and it will be next year) I will look into that. I have quite a bit of faith in Westover near to me also - and they can source one.
I will only change the Exige if I have to because it just can't be beaten for the cost - I can live with it for most occasions, but driving it on a ferry and through France on a regular basis wouldn't be much fun
Thought about a 911 Jamie but it would have to be a manly version

I wouldn't be tracking a 360 though - would be asking for trouble!
The Caterham idea is more appealing, which is what Chilled has done.
From the massive amounts of praise a GT3 gets, i'm sure it's a far better car and i'd prefer the drive of it (I think) but i'm not sure it would feel as special for the same money as a 360.
