Copper with laser gun, slight left bend and three coppers standing on a banked grass verge when the road straightend. Easy pickings for them, sunny afternoon, only a few cars on the road, all the police have to do is stand around and wait for someone who is driving safely but at speed on a clear open road. Much easier for the police to catch these obvious criminals than those motorists in rust buckets who drive at stupid speeds in poor conditions.

My only other 3 points are 3 years old in May, so this is a fresh batch, suppose I'll have to phone the insurance people and let them know. Of course when I phone them in May to tell them my old 3 points no longer count I'm sure they'll completely ignore my request for reducing my premium. As was a similar arguement I had with my old ford escort being stolen, all locked up on a quiet street, but as some idiots stole it the insurance people had no-one to claim against so took my NCB and it ended up costing me a few 100 quid extra for the next premium. As is the injustice of a muppet keying a car and then the owner forking out the doh due to compulsory excess on one hand and not catchning the muppet on the other.

I need a holiday

In fact I have a long easter weekend in Cumbria to look forward to, if I make it there without getting banned.

Never be the fastest car and hopefully you won't get caught.

I followed a police car the other day who was doing 75 mph (gps speed) on the M4, no flashing lights etc clearly in breach of local police guide lines.
They didn't seem to care that people were passing them.

I also had an ANPR capable car on my drive over the weekend, quite stealthy is all the equipment

Automatic Number Plate Recognition

It reads your reg plate automatically, looks it up, and flags if there are any alerts - no tax etc.

Whether the limit is right or not at least you managed something decent over it for your three points !

At 94 your speedo was probably reading around 100 .... unless it's one one of the few accurate manufacturers ones - that do occasionally exist.

Getting done is annoying but I think I would be more annoyed at straying to 35 in a 30 and getting a ticket as a friend of mine did. Infact I know someone else who nearly got disqualified for 'totting up' to 12 points where no one offence exceeded 38 in a 30 !

A couple more miles per hour and I feel you wouldn't have got a ticket .... it would have been a trip to court. Getting 3 points would p*ss me off anytime but I think you have to look at how far you are over the limit and realise it could have been alot worse for not much more use of that right foot.

A scamera on that road would invariably be set to 77+ .... I doubt the officers were doing anyone for anywhere near that ..... but, unfortunately for you they were obviously doing people for 94 !

The police probably think they have taught a hooligan a lesson and that I may think twice about driving so dangerously again. I dispute the fact my driving was seen as dangerous and all they have done is wound up a driver who was otherwise indifferent towards the police, considerate and defensive minded on the road.

78mph or 100mph makes no difference, unless the speed limit is adaptive then it makes it a simple "catch all" for the law to apply.

I take no pleasure in getting away with 94mph instead of 81mph or so, i was not racing and there were no other cars near me, the speed was progressive.

As with all things goverment related, no-one will listen to us drivers so we just rant and then get on with life.

by law they dont have to have the blues and twos on though if responding.. Although agree in most cases they are just driving at a safe speed to keep the motorway moving.

The impact to traffic flow is clearly evident when you get a copper rolling at 60 in the slow lane.. I like following cops, or having the balls to.. Not many do at 80 (75GPS)

Might be in your group too - was caught in richmond park yesterday doing about 23-25 max in a 20 zone nothing around me and was too busy looking around and taking in the view to notice the copper with his gun in the distance...

I guess my point is that its easy pickings for them, bright sunny day just waiting for someone not to be paying attention - and lets face it trying to concentrate at 20 is a nightmare your going so slow you are more interested in whats happening around you then looking at a speedo - and if you've ever driven through the park you will know what i mean - people/bikes/horses etc.etc...

Yeah, it'd be much harder for them to wait just around a corner on a wet night and pull over the lunatic essex boy racers.

I thought they gave you 3 points for speeding, not dangerous driving? Or have I misunderstood you?
