Ignoring speed, I'd rather lap Cadwell in an S2000. Silverstone I'd probably prefer the VXR8.
The problem with the VXR8 would be the same as with my old E46 M3. Just too heavy and too soft. I prefer pointy cars on track and will all the good will in the world, the VXR is not a pointy car. Sounds lovely though.
It would be ok on track, just not as fun as something a bit more suited.

Was pretty much a 2 min lap (1.50 to 3.50) cones to cones on the chicane that's used for bike before the mountain.
Very slightly held up by the M3.
Simon & I were doing 1.53/4's on our day - my stock S & Simon's mostly stock S.
I couldn't be arsed to watch the whole video so don't know if it got much quicker.

HOLY thread revival !!
Best lap managed that day was a 1.47.xxx with plenty to spare, the car had about 300 miles on the clock so I was hardly thrashing or working the engine hard either.
Re 4 laps on the tyres, the tyres were simply overheating and making the grip drop off and the corner entry mushy.
The VXR8 is an amazing car to be honest, nearly e60 M5 performance at half the price, the only real negative I would mention on the track is that the default setup of the geometry and shocks/springs lends itself to mild understeer at high speed and 70+mph corners, in that respect it is very easy to overdrive it.
My vid was nothing more than hooning around, no focus on lap times etc at all.
I think 1:45 would have easily been possible.
To give you some idea how that stacks up against my other cars at Cadwell.
E46 320d remapped to around 165bhp, kw v3's and uprated brakes saw around 1:51's
E46 330i Sport with std suspension and uprated yellow stuff pads saw 1:49's
E60 530d M-Sport, 231bhp and red stuff pads saw 1:48's
All the above on Bridgestone re050's or similar.
The most impressive thing on the VXR8 was it's tremendous grip in the dry and awesome standard brakes, even on std pads I suffered no particular fade that day, but then I never pushed them to the absolute max. Still very impressive however.
