Aston Martin Vantage
Very nice car
Met up with a mate who has just picked up a black one.
I'll post pics when I have stuck them on my pc.
First thing you notice is everyone looks at it. When I met up with him in a pub there was two guys peering in it as I pulled alongside. This continued throughout the afternoon with people taking pics, gawping etc.
TBH I am not surprised. IMO it is one of the most stunning cars on the road.
We each took a turn driving each others vehicles. First the M5 and then the Vantage. Drove around the country lanes near where I live
He was pleasantly surprised about how well the M5 drives and was v. impressed with the handling (surprised actually). He thought it was a little slower than his previous two Masers he has owned.
Then came my turn in driving the Vantage.
The seats and the position are excellent. It sits very low to the ground-a lower position than the S. The seats move pretty much every which way, as does the steering wheel.
The interior is very modern looking and the start button in the middle of the dash is
The noise from the V8 is awesome. He is having some fuse or other removed to make it louder
I probably did 10-15 miles driving in it and in that short space of time I was hooked. The car feels like it's on rails and gives you oddles of confidence. The steering is very responsive and the car feels like it in a squat position. I think it might be an aluminium monocoque (certainly feels like it) and upon looking at the engine afterwards they are fitted with a crossbrace which made sense. In lots of ways it reminded me of the S, only better. If I had this car you'd have to prize me out of it. It makes you want to go on b road thrashes.
It is the best handling car I have driven. To me it has the sound look and feel of a car that begs to be thrashed around a track.
One let down-performance. Quoted 0-60 is 4.9 coming out of a 4.2 v8 producing 380 bhp. Given the quoted M5 0-60 is 4.8s there must be a misquote. IMO performance fell somewhere in between the M5 and the S. You certainly weren't pushed back into your seat from 1st gear. The power delivery is unbeleivable linear.
