We went to look at a 130i yesterday. Never drove it. Are they a good drive?

Moff has the 135i coupe.

The 130 is the 260ish bhp NA hatch.

Yes they are very good to drive IMO and quite underrated.

If you can get past the somewhat bizarre packaging definitely worth a look IMO.

It is for my wife. Currently drives an A2.

The dealers version was upper 17k and pretty shitley specced, ie all cloth, no fancy gadgets.

Saw this on Pistonheads:

Not in the market for one atm but that looks a great car. Shame it isn't Nov, as that's when she is considering changing.

Cheers for that. Sounds great.

The back looked a bit cramped in it, she has old parents with dodgy hips that sometimes need ferrying about.

I think I need to get her behind the wheel as this could be the perfect 'tit about' car for me at weekend

Yeah, we have the 120 and access to the rear is tricky for old folks.

Once you're in it's fine.

The 1 series has been criticised generally for this.

I love the idea and spec, but it just looks boring.

I looked at the 130i ..... but just felt it had nothing in it. The inside is bland though very functional. I have no doubt the driving experience would be good but they look a bit odd and have no space in the back.

The other thing that annoyed me was that the salesmen were (on two visits) all too busy to just simply unlock a car for me to look around - they said they had to stay with you whilst you were looking at it ... If I wanted the keys I could understand it but I had only said I wanted to have a sit in it ! All obviously too much trouble ...... so I walked out and ended up buying a Golf GTi.
