Ive heard of the h22 being called the magic engine, whether this is true I dont know. No problems for me so far going from 122k miles to 126kmiles, but ive only owned it 2months.

Used Magnatec 10-40 in the ATR which has the H22A in it. Never had a problem.

It's wonderfully torquey and generally smooth (dual-length inlet tracts & balancer shafts plus a heavy flywheel).

Bit gruff at 2,500 rpm under load, though.

They are prone to head gasket problems, by Honda standards anyway.

Nowhere near as sweet as the B16 or as inspiring as the F20c.

really? I've got two at the moment, one with 225K miles, and the other with 125K miles.
not had a problem with either engine, and tend to run them without any oil in them.

Dont listen to any of this crap about not using synthetics on high milers!! I'm not going into it now. For your prelude problems www.preludeuk.co.uk
Best oil to use is an Ester based jobbie. Silkolene Pro or Motul 300V. This stuff is electrostatically charged (because of the esters) and will prevent breakdown longer.

Thanks for the connection - looked for one of those with no success!

I've had no problems either, but some have had.

I tend to use cheaper oil, because VTEC engines seem to dirty it quickly at higher mileages. Just chuck a new load in at 4,500.
