I had a Triumph 1300 for a while, same engine, very easy to work on but even 30 years ago was a rust bucket, unless you want to spend mega bucks you will need to hone your welding skills. I think wheeler dealers did a Spitfire, might be worth looking up.

I've seen the WD episode. It was good.

I have no welding ability but I can always pay welders to weld for me. When that's done I can then wave spanners about.

He has another triumph too. Can put you in touch, proper petrol head and has fiddled with it a lot

Has a Cayman S but i think he is straight.

I've 2 GT6's, one of which was passed down to me from my dad - his advice to me was "Never try fix the engine oil leaks, they're normal, just top it up regular"

When I asked why, his reply was "If the engine stops leaking, the floor will start rusting!"

No experience of Spitfires I'm afraid so hope you won't think this is too off topic CC.

Saw this ad for the first time last night, I don't watch much TV. For me the star is the powder blue early Spitfire driven by a pretty girl. I think the marketing for SqaushD is brilliant. I like the squash playing theme and love it how the female passenger squirts the product into her bottle of water on the move.

Suppose this does sort of perpetuate the girly image of the car. The GT6 was of course considered more hairy-chested. I have documented on here the trials and tribulations of having MrQ's 1962 Triumph TR4 restored. Good luck with your project. Hope you enjoy driving your Spit as much as Sazzy and I do the TR.
