Default An alternative to the GoPro

I took delivery of a new toy yesterday.

A lovely Drift Ghost HD action camera.

http://driftinnovation.com/camera/drift-hd-ghost/

Seems bloody well made. Just waiting for my Modifry camera mount to arrive so I can go and play with it properly.

I got it primarily because I want to make a time lapse movie of this years France drive to the south coast. The idea is to compress 2 days of driving into a few mins of video.

I've had a play with the time lapse function this evening with some sunset/cloud type stuff and it seems really easy to use.

Will report on what it's like properly soon.

Looks like a nice piece of kit
I like the time lapse idea as well!
Not sure on the res though it is badged as 1080P but only states frame rates 60fps in 720p, 120fps in VGA
What sort of cost was it?
Might replace my HD bullet cam

Was £269. Comes with a remote control and various mounts. Also has external mic input but you have to buy external mic seperately.

Also it's waterproof to 9ft out of the box without some big case so handy for in the pool on holidays.

Read the product page!

Standard in all Drift cameras are multiple sensitivity settings and an external 3.5mm microphone connector to further enhance the captured audio.

Does it come with any suction mounts (or similar) for sticking it to a car?

Suction mounts no but self adhesive mounts (x2). One for flat surfaces, one curved (for the side of helmets).

Oh and it comes with a mount that attaches to goggle straps should you find yourself dressed like a WWii fighter pilot.

It takes a standard tripod mount though so you can use whatever you want really.

There was a recent test of small cams on Gadget Show.
The new GoPro Hero3 came top.

Every single time I see TV footage by the BBC or whatever - they always use GoPro.
Says it all really?

Have always been tempted with getting a gopro and never really looked at alternatives. Recent daily deal on eBay for the gopro 3 silver for £199.99 caught my eye.

I just fancied something different really. And it looks cooler too.
