Alpine iDA X100 and ipods

I have an Alpine iDA X100 and have to get a new ipod.
Anyone have any experience with this head-unit together with either a 5th gen nano, or an ipod touch?
Any advice/comments gratefully received

If it helps I use mine with an iPhone. It is a 3GS running the latest firmware (4.0.2).

There are some issues but generally it works really well.
