2010 Race Plans

I know, I have a feeling the Legacy replacement is going to be put on the back burner.
How's the Fury coming along by the way? Am I going to regret building from scratch?
I don't think the cost difference between the 2.3 and the 2.0 is so big these days, the advice I'm getting from the builder is to go bigger and tune less but then he's not paying for it!

We're losing the workshop that the Fury's being built in (and it's at the other end of the country) so it's uncertain at the moment what's going to happen on that score. I want to finish it, but giving up a long weekend to do bits here and there isn't going to get it done any time soon, and now the workshop is going, I'm going to have to think about what I'm going to do with it soon.
It's very rewarding, but time consuming. If you're prepared to double your budget in terms of time and add 50% in terms of money (more if you need tools) then go for it. But it's not for the faint hearted, or those with a lack of free time.
I'd go for the 2.3 every time if I could afford it, but last time I looked a crated 2.3 was £5k upwards where a reliably tuned 2.0 was easily under £3k and the difference in output was around 20bhp IIRC.
Thought about an F20C? It's under 2.0 so will be eligible for more classes, unstressed and fairly well understood by kit builders these days.

[QUOTE=kartaphilos,Nov 29 2009, 10:15 AM]BTW: Did my ARDS test last weekend so will have a race license next season and hoping to do 1 or 2 arrive and drive events. Looking at the MX5 series or MR2 series.

Graeme, don't know if you remember Tom from Anglesey (the chap who owns the Elise i put into the tyre wall ). He's driving in PBMW next year too.
I'll keep an eye out for him next year

Quick update:
Picked up my Caterham engine from the builders this weekend, it was pretty bad, needed new crank and rods, oil pump etc. but it's all new and shiny again.
Hopefully we'll get it back in the car before Christmas ready for the rather lucky new owner.
The builder works from Janspeed's premises and amongst other interesting things there was an unfinished GTD40 (Ford GT40 replica) which I took 10 minutes to dribble over.
It was a message from God, I will have one I just have to work a bit harder
Back at my brother's, the beemer's had a new harness and a borrowed seat fitted (I've ordered one but it's not going to arrive before Christmas), so I took the chance to sit it in and get comfy ahead of my first outing in at a Snetterton track day next week.
I'm not sure how much is standard or down to the previous owner but everything seems to be positioned in the right place. The floor mounted accelerator pedal in particular is just right for heal and toe
Really looking forward to Saturday and driving something very different to the Caterham
