You guys have peaked my curiousity. What new cars would you guys get for $100k if cross shopping the zr1? 911S?
Viper is the only thing even remotely close that I can think of and the vette will run circles around it in every test you can come up with. I just can't picture anyone seriously cross shopping a 911S and a ZR-1.

Great price point from a performance standpoint since nothing can touch it for the money, but I personally wouldn't shell out that much money for a Corvette.
Call me a snob or whatever, but I would rather have GM put the package together into a different car, still a 2 seater, but something other than a Corvette to open up the market from buyers of other car makers and I don't mean Caddy (XLR) either, something different.
For $100k + I personally would want something with a little more prestige associated with it other than a Corvette.

Just my opinion, of course. Flamesuit on.

I'm sure it will be easy to tune to over 1000 hp relably so you can be in Veyron territory at probably 150k or less invested.
Depends what you consider Veyron territory...

50-220 acceleration maybe... Anything else and the corvette will struggle with traction and aerodynamics instability. The car isn't designed to be stable at 250mph... SSC Aero is a perfect example of what you're getting at.

There's a lot to be said about the refinement the Veyron has and with the ease and stability it attains its speeds. It's not as simple as adding horsepower is what I'm saying.

I think the quesiton is a little different. It's not cross shopping necessarily. Just, if you were going to spend $100K+, what would you get. Some would say Vantage V8, or R8, and some would definitely (in my view) say a GT3 or even a loaded 911S. Others might say a GT-R even with markup.

it's gonna be just like the Z06...nothing can touch it for the money.

With the Z06 at 75K and the Z-R1 at 103K it makes you wonder what Ford is thinking asking 80k for the GT500 KR
as long as they make not too many of them, it'l sell b/c of the "limited edition" specialness. Those die-hard mustang fans with money to burn (rich baby boomers) will pick one up but they likely will also have a ZR1 or a Viper also.

ACR costs about the same. I don't see the ZR-1 running circles around it on a road course. I'm sure the the ZR1 will be faster in accel and drag racing tests.

And markups are already crazy. The ACR can be had for MSRP or lower already. The standard Viper can be had for way under MSRP.
ZR-1 or ACR. My vote is the ACR. The ZR-1 hp is probably just for bragging and not be really useful on the street (like the AC-R is ) but this being an S2000 forum, we also value good handling.

At that price I'd also look hard at the GT3 & R8. But even $110K is out of my budget so I don't even dream about it.
