These 2 cars swim in the same pool (along with the SL55 AMG and the Ferrari 355). The 911 turbo has been more successful (selling twice as many as the Z8).

The Z8 sold only 6000 total (3 years) while the 911 turbo is approaching 4000/year.

My question is what car you'd rather have? Also down the road do you think the limited nature of the Z8 will make it more valuable as a collectors car, or do you see both cars selling for near the same price say 10 or 20 years down the road?

I just looked at a new z8 alpina....sticker was 185k....and it's really big looking up close. A lot of car there it's big compared to a z4 almost 8" wider by the way it looked... I think I'd take the porsche and spend the extra money on a party to go with it...

I think the porsche would be the better sports car as well. THe z8 looks a bit more cruiser comforted than the porsche..

The 911 TT would leave the Z8 sniffing vapor trails, and the reviews of the Z8 haven't been that great (poor wind buffeting with top up, strange ergonomics, etc.). I was thinking the Z8 would be a classic, but I think when the 500 hp V10 engine comes out the Z8 will go by the wayside. They are limited edition, but honestly with the poor economy, and the fact that there are worthier competitors, I think the Z8 isn't the best out there.

I'd buy a Z8 for about 60K... I don't think it's really all that.

911 TT? Yes please!

I actually like the styling of the Z8. Has classic clean lines and a nice motor, too.

That said, I would take the 911TT (especially the 993 Turbo S) over the big BMW every time.

I do like the interior of the Z8. Other than the motor... it leaves me cold.

I'll admit that the Z8 is almost TOO retro in some cases but I just like the clean fluidity of the lines. Minimal adornments and balanced proportions. It really doesn't have the visual impact of many cars out on the market right now, but I think the price is what killed it most of all...

Sounds like the story of the NSX (selling only a few hundred a year)
