Default Z28 lap time comparo - inconsistant..?

The Z28 appears to be an amazing track car at times.... like the Lightning lap.... 1 second slower than a Viper TA for a huge course..... but it was 4 seconds off the pace at Laguna with Randy Probst driving both cars..? Then in the Road and Track Motown Mile the Viper beat it by 2-3 seconds (I think) in under a 1 minute race (I cannot find the results - still looking)

How is it that good on certain tracks but not nearly as good on other tracks... none of these tracks are extremely different (if one had a 2 mile straight away I could understand some big differences)...?

Car and Drivers Lightning LAP at VIR

Z28 = 2:50.9
Viper TA = 2:49.9

extremely close

Laguna Seca

Z28 = 1:37.82
Viper TA = 1:33.62

Not close at all.

Road and Track Motown Mile

Z28 = 1:26.1

Viper TA = 1:23.4

2.5 seconds in a short race

only thing I can think of is that if Laguna can really be considered as a track that has more corners you need to go slow in fast out. Acceleration of the Viper puts more of a gap on the Z28 in this case

The new Z06, old Zr1, and old Viper ACR are the only cars that can compete for under 200k. After 200k it's murky with one off, special editions of already expensive cars, but even there the TA is the fastest or nearly the fastest. Around a million some cars start to separate. Hopefully, they decide to continue making an ACR and it can compete directly with million dollar cars on track for <150k.

Unless they're the same day, same driver, you can't really compare (beyond a point).

Also, let's not forget that some even pro drivers have cars their driving style suits more than others. I don't think Randy finds the Viper easier to drive than the Z28, based on the videos I've seen, but sometimes "easy to drive" means that you aren't pushing it quite as hard as you think...

Could probably also add that the Aero of the Viper hurts it a bit more down the long straights than it does the Camaro so on the big course, the advantage of the viper dwindles. so that pluss the viper accelerating out of tighter corners faster on a shorter track like Laguna, gets you the reasoning on both sides of the fence.

Slow in fast out is for HPDE. The people driving these cars (Pobst anyhow) don't need to go slow. Fast in, Fast out baby.

I had actually sent them that question through their website... the numbers I posted for the Lightning Lap were both from this year so I would hope it was the same day and the same driver.... I would hope they use a pro and not one of the writers..... anyone can drive a fwd 200hp car at 10/10's but be scared to drive a 600+hp car at 10/10's.

I just don't get how the Z28 can be so close to the top at some tracks but be so far behind at others...
