I remember tranny whine being an issue for some owners, but that may be more of a personal taste issue. different people like/tolerate different transmission/engine noises. The 350Z and the Infinti G35 do have a prinounced transmission note IMO. But it is kind of cool sounding to me.

Pronounced transmission note? The exhaust makes some noise, absolutely no idea what you mean by transmission note. The 350z is a great all around GT sportscar. The transmission issues were few and far between and without explaining exactly how the tire wear issues have for the majority been resolved. It's extremely difficult to use internet forums to find out the proportion of cars with specific problems. If 52 guys post throughout a year, 1 per week, about a specific problem then odds are the entire internet is going to think everyone has that issue. I've got 3 good friends with 350z's, two first year models, one 05, and several aquaintances with them, none have had issues. It's too new of a car to be looking out for issues with it unless it's an 03 with high miles. Focus on the owner, the car's condition, and the price.

We have an '04 Roadster and it's a great car. I handles great for it's size and it's a really fun car to drive. I agree - go to my350Z.com. The 2 major issues for '04's are the tire feathering issues - which has been resolved and if your friend is looking at a roadster around an '04 (not sure if it was still an issue in '05) have him take a good look at the top. There were some seam separation issues so you want to make sure those have been taken care of. (Our Nissan garage just installed a brandy new roof for us this fall). Just keep in mind that you can walk away with some good information from my350z.com however the climate over there is way different than we are use to here on S2KI. You'll notice there is a LOT of complaining over some very minor stuff over there. So focus on the larger, repetitively posted issues for the year you are interested in. Hope this helps!
