Around here, there is no such thing as a Buick dealership anymore. They usually sell other GM's brands as well. If they only concentrated on Buick, they would sell a couple vehicles a year, if that.

Those dealers own the franchise, so when GM kills brands, people sue for lost revenue opportunity. When they consolidate, I have to imagine the the Buick dealer is getting a nice pay-off... Now, kill Hummer and Saturn and you're really cooking with gas.

I've never seen our local Buick dealer, but I googled the name I see on Buicks around here, and it's still there for now: http://www.eckenhoffbuick.com/en_US/

I'm sure there's a Buick dealer at one of the auto malls near me. But I couldn't tell you where it is. A lot full of Buicks is just like a Buick on the road: I drive right past it without noticing.

It's all explained in a story in today's newspaper. GM is pushing to put all three brands under one roof to boost sales and cut costs.
"GM's strategy is to strengthen the three brands so they can better compete," said Greg Ross, zone manager for Pontiac, Buick and GMC in Central and South Florida.
