OK, enough of that exotic supercar crap; now, we're just comparing the GT cars: the grand touring, super-luxo

(yet still super-fast) cars which can take you well over triple-digit speeds while playing some itzak perlman

on the cd player...

the contestants are:

btw, they are limited to cars produced noly within the past 5 years

Aston Martin V12 Vanquish

Aston Martin V8 Vantage V600

Ferrari 456MGT

Ferrari 575M Maranello

Lamborghini Diablo 6.0

[B]Lamborghini Murci

If I'm shopping strictly for Grand Touring I'm going with the SL55 AMG. Grand Touring is, to me, about long, fast drives in a car that handles well but demands little from the driver while swaddling occupants with luxury and comfort. Styling doesn't hurt, either, and the new Benz definitely has that.

Runner up would be the Z8. I love it's styling, but the Benz seems to cover the same bases with a little more swaddling...

Out of that group I would get the 575M. In reality I would probably get a 911 TT, and drop about $15K-$20K get it to about 550+ hp, take some weight off (Carbon fiber hood, doors, etc, take out back seat), keep the AWD and skid/traction control. And still have about $75-$100K left over. That would be the ultimate car.

They must all bow down to the Maranello. What other car can cruise comfortably, A/C on, at 190 mph, all....day...long.
