Consumable prices would push me towards the MX-5. Everything is pretty cheap and easy to work on. Light weight and not so much straight line speed equals less tire and brake wear. By the time I figured entry fee, tire and brake wear plus gas, I was spending about a $750 per weekend and that was trying not to beat stuff up too much. It was closer to a grand if I went harder and had to buy a motel room in addition.

I'm a member there, and it's open every day ex. Wednesday. It's only 44 miles from my house, too. I went down yesterday during my lunch hour, took 2 hours PBA (Personal Business Allowance) to play on the track, and finished my workday in the clubhouse using their wifi.

So it's not all roses, but playing w/ cars is a great way to escape from the less-than-optimal aspects of my life. I assume you'd rather hear about my auto experiences than the BS I put up w/ at work!
