Default Your choice for affordable daily driver/track car?

If you could do it all over again, what would you pick as your ultimate daily driver/track car. This would be your primary vehicle at the same time your track car few times a year.

An obvious choice for many would be the S2000 which excels in the track department but IMO falls short in the daily driving department.

My basic formula for my choices are 80% daily drivability and 20% trackability.

135i in 6 speed with M package.

B5 S4 in 6 speed.

R170 SLK32.

How does the S 'fall short' in daily driving?

Surely this is not the first time you've heard this. Torque. It's fun to wind up the car in its stock form but it gets a bit tiring for daily use. I mean try making a U-turn in heavy traffic.

I thought you needed a steering wheel. I've been doing it all wrong.

Does this discredit all compact and subcompact cars as daily drivers?
