YOU WON'T GET ANY TEST DRIVES HERE! - Chevy dealer
I decided to stop at a decent sized Chevy dealership to look at the C6.... no original intention of a test drive.
They didn't have any, but some 25 year old sales idiot blurts out from half way across the showroom " YOU WON'T GET ANY TEST DRIVES HERE".
So I asked if they had the C6's presold..... NO....
What a great way to make a new customer. They all saw me pull up in my F250 which has a sticker price damn close to the Vette.....
I told them I would go to the other Chevy dealership when the C6's come in, and as they all stared at me ....so when i went to leave I gave them a friendly wave that none of them returned.

I went to test drive a Z06. One dealer said no way, those are "special limited production cars" we don't let anyone test drive them. Well that was OK with me because I had just dropped by to get a look and sit in one.
The next time I was half way thinking about buying one (if the price was right) I even had my check book with me. Well they said no test drive unless I first agree on a price and start the paperwork. I said f-that. It's a G-D chevy. BTW this was a corvette super-store with 50+ vettes inc 7 Z06s.
The next time I set up a test drive in advance at another dealer. I drove the Z06 and loved it, but with my trade I was going to loose more than I wanted.

Is it really any wonder that a good number of dealerships won't let people test drive a Z06 and or C6? Just look at this thread here about a MY04 S2000. With the majority of posters in that thread being that anal over 70 miles on a 240hp, ~$32,000 car, how do you think a potential Z06/C6 purchaser would feel about unknown people doing unknown things during "test drives" in his 405hp, ~$55,000 car?

ybs1 - i could understand if i just pulled up in my primed escort and had some manure covered cloths on.... but I pulled up in my pretty truck with no dents in it.....
I guess they expect the C6 will sell itself and/or people will come beg them to buy it? I won't be.
How about. "when we do get some C6's, I don't think we will be allowing test drives" or something like that....not "YOU WON'T GETTING ANY TEST DRIVES HERE"
This same dealership was too stupid to spend the 10 minutes to figure out my GM Supplier employee form, so i bought my 2003 silverado from the other big dealer....derp.

The ironic thing to all of this (and the point of my post) is that I'd be willing to bet nearly all the people replying to this thread will give the expected "What a bunch of jerks not letting people test drive the car!", etc. comments. Meanwhile in the other thread it's pretty obvious the majority of post are to the effect of "This thing might as well be a used car", "70 Miles?? It's already a beater, I wouldn't buy that!", or "They better give me a huge discount, at least $1000 under invoice to take that pile off their hands." Obviously I'm exaggerating for effect, but you get the idea. Basically, everyone wants to test drive a car and become offended if they are met with some resistance, but they sure don't want their car to be the one anyone else may have test drove. The original post wasn't a knock on you, just how funny we all act sometimes.

i'm fairly young(22) and for the most part i haven't had horrible dealer problems when it comes to test drives(except at one nissan dealership when i was like 20 and the 350 just came out. Just rock a gator(lacoste) show up clean shaven and ask intelligent questions and most people will take you seriously and let you test drive whatever you want as long as everything looks socioeconomically feasible

I've also had problems at a nissan dealership, they wanted a $5K (Australian) security deposit before they'd let me test drive one!!! 'Sif i'm going to walk around with 5K cash in my pocket for the sake of a test drive, a great way to turn off buyers.
