Brandon, welcome to the dark side, speaking as an ex-S owner lured into a Z06. That much torque sure feels good in a car that still handles well.

There's a whole Corvette thing that I sort of like, 50 years and all that, but not in the rabid way of some fellow owners I meet -- "I've wanted a vette since I was six..." or "all other cars are crap." I just don't get that narrow minded view of the marque.

Yea... glad to see that s2000 owners are open minded. Like is said before.... this forum is great. Not many car owners are open minded and pretty much only back their own cars up.... do to a sense of insecurity... lol. As for american hp..., yep, its awesome! I'd love a new vette, but have already invested so much money into my s2000, i don't want any more "extremely" depreciable assetts. The vette will hold its own, and possibly/probably just increase in value. One day i'll own a new vette, right along side the 71 vette i have now, and the s2000, both of which i'll never sell. Lol... it's gonna be a while though. I'm 20yrs old and about to be leaving the military for college...., so my deep pockets are about to be turned inside out! I'll still be a good ol reservist... but anyone in the airforce reserves will tell you how much more you make when activated... lol... its just not fair!! Nice bug btw.... throw a porsche motor in it and watch it go lol

I sold a 1970 454 4 speed muncie big block Vette, monza red/red to purchase my S2000. I bored the motor 30 over and with some aftermarket goodies was punching out na 500hp and same amont of torque, loads of fun I do miss it. I wish I could have lept it but my wife drew the line at one garage queen only (think she is jealous) I will scan a pic of it later for your viewing pleasure.

My next door neighbor is into "classic" American muscle. He's got a couple of Chevelles and a Cobra replica. Whenever he starts them up I think someone just started a power boat. The street actually rumbles. "shrug" to each his own.

I'd rather have an early NSX, a 2nd/3rd gen RX-7, 2nd gen MR2, 968/944 etc... Something a little more refined.

I'm not bashing your old american cars, just not my cup of tea.

Well....., in terms of being refined... i personally think the vette is pretty refined... as is that cobra replica your talking about. Nothing is more raw on the street than a 427 S/C! The vette is pretty refined as well..., at least for its era. Its raw power, yet it handles very well, and the interior is not cheap by any means..., agin, for its era. But your right, to each their own!

Brandon, I'm just saying I'd rather have something from the early 90's than something from the early 70's (or older). There is a difference in refinement.

I'd like to own a 60's pony or muscle car one day. It'd be great fun to cruise in.

I should be "inheriting" my 'future father inlaws' 1971 Charger next spring. He was owned it since new!

I have driven it only once, lots of torque, but as in every circa 1970 car I have driven the front end is so loose.
