I know the basics of torque. But I have a situation which I'm unsure of. For instance, if your going around 60mph and punch it. The power that pushes you back into your seat. Is that torque or HP?

at least the new guy that start the thread got the idea.
torque is more important than HP?
(some of the people can't even spell the word "torque")
yea right, try to race with a not so many toque Ferrari 360 with a alot torque Ford F-series truck to see who is going to win.

I really did'nt see anything in there that would have me consider them idiots!
Personally, I don't like the GrandAm's. . .any of them, but I don't think they said anything out of the ordinary.

HA!!! You were reading a Grand Am forum??? (j/k - and you suckered me into reading it, too!)
The Grand Am makes for a really, really AVERAGE rental car. Why are they even discussing racing?
The big variable that most people forget in the whole HP/Torque debate is gearing. With the luxury of a 9000 rpm redline, the S2000 can have substantially lower gears than most cars. 150 ft-lbs turning a short gear can provide the same wheel torque as 300 ft-lb turning a gear twice as big.
