Yamaha R1
Wow these things are amazing. I rode a Yamaha R1 for the first time today. It's the first bike I've ever driven. These things are fast. After I got back into my S after driving an R1 it felt so slow.

...an R1 as the first bike you've ever ridden? WOW! Congrats on starting big and living to tell about it!
Seriously though, there are precious few cars that can run with new 600cc bikes, let alone the insane literbikes that factories are turning out now. It's crazy to think that for right around 10k you can buy a production vehicle that will run 9's in the 1/4mi.

Who in their right mind would let someone who has never ridden ride their R1?
I still remember letting a dumb kid who claimed to have ridden dirtbikes ride my beater Honda 360. He got about 20 feet and to about 30MPH before slamming to the back of a parked car. One of the funniest things I ever saw -- and to think I had to convince him to wear my helmet.

I agree with the above comments...
I've done some dirtbike riding, but I would NEVER get on either the R1 or R6 without some serious streetbike experience. You could be dead before you realized how stupid you were.

haha you guys are crazy. I did really well on the bike. I found it very easy to ride. Definatly thinking about buying a bike now, maybe an R6. Hopefully next march when I turn 18. Oh and by the another friend of mine claimed that he rode dirtbikes in the past and he stalled the bike 4 times.

I've driven dirt bikes since I was 10 but the first time I got on a 600cc sportbike (CBR F4i), it had my respect from the get go. I want one - bigtime - but man, I can guarantee I'll be taking my time learning how to push it. I drove on side streets the entire time (did a loop around my brother's neighbourhood, since it was his bike) and never got past 10K rpm or over 60 mph. Stupid fast, as I like to say.
I can't even fathom literbike performance. The only way I'd get a literbike would be for commuting (that extra torque comes in handy) but that's kind of silly since those bikes are far from relaxing to drive in terms of ergonomics and seating position. So, I think it'll still be a CBR F4i for me, but a Kawasaki ZZR-600 may also come my way.
