good decision. as i posted earlier, the IS is a nice balance of sport and luxury with a healthy dose of quality and great dealership experience thrown in. my better half loves hers.

My sister is getting the C230k... I like the look.. not bad at all..
And it's a bargain consider what you get with about 27k from Merc...

It come with 6 speed supercharged for 195hp/200tq(??).. and a
very unique panorama sunroof...

It can also be easily chipped for 30hp more...

But if you want performance... get WRX...
If you like reliability and can get over the ricey rear lights... IS300 might just
fit you...

None of the above.

While I'm a fan of the D-C new "C-class" as a whole, I think the C230 is a POS mutt. Something went terribly wrong with that car after the A pillar. It's as if an 80s Honda Accord slammed into the rear of a C sedan. The styling elements don't match either. The 'frequency' of detail in the front is much higher than the rear. It's as if the back half of the design was dumped on junior interns in the design studio, who all drove Geo Metros to work. It's just my opinion, of course.

The IS just screams "rice" to me. It's overall package is very gimmicky (clear lenses, chronograph gauges), and has never been a match for it's primary target - the 3 series. For the price you can get a nice 325i 5-speed.

The WRX is a blast to drive, but it's ugly and feels very cheap. There have been a lot of people having troubles with their car's transmissions, and Subaru has been recalcitrant to honor warranty claims. If your friend just wants to have a blast with a car and throw it away in a couple of years, then the WRX is the choice.

The new 350Z is a nice design, but many of the early reviews I've read point to a distinct lack of headroom. For me this is a MAJOR issue these days, as many manufacturers are reducing headroom to improve aerodynamics. I'm 5'11" with a 32" inseam but there are dozens of new cars I can't even sit upright in. If your friend fits, great, but good luck finding one without an egregious markup this year.

Comparing the 325i to the IS is also a joke, IMO.
