I offer an innocent suggestion, and now I must suffer a fusillade of cruel and taunting insults? Mods, does this racketeering and corruption fall under the 'personal attacks' proviso?
Don't mind potluckcock...he has issues.
Dude, stop making fun of my name. My mother gave me that name, and now she's DEAD. So it's, like, really hurting my feelings and pissing me off. STOP IT, you cruel little children!

true, it's a good drivers' car,
good, fun go- kart handling.

tho, i wish that it had a bit more punch,
it's too tame sometimes.

i prefer mr- s a bit more.

MR2 is actually powered by a FWD motor - they just drive it in the opposite direction

for the money and fun factor, the Miata is a hell of an autox car....of course I still think of it as a "girlie car".....

I'm a bit curious how you didn't like it until you found out that it was rwd. Have you driven one before or just going off magazine stats?

I'm not flaming, just curious.

I happen to agree that I prefer rwd cars. Not that I'm necessarily faster or a better driver in rwd, but I just like the characteristics inherent in an rwd platform.

As for the Miata specifically. I fell in love with the very first British Racing Green w/ tan leather Miata that I drove at a dealership in the early 90s.

When I was most recently shopping for a car I REALLY wanted an S2000, but the numbers didn't work out for my financial goals, so I decided to drop about $5k and picked up a 1992 Miata. Not BRG w/ tan, but a very close black w/ tan that I affectionately call Guinness!

I struggle (and that's being kind) to keep up with the local S2000 owners on drives, but my smile is just as big as theirs the whole time!

honestly, no, i have never driven a miata, hence why i didn't know it was rwd. had i driven one i would have known this. magazine stats..., yes, and just the overall appeal of the car itself. I'm sure, as with the S2k, its only justice to drive the car and then rate it... but unfortunately i've only been able to drive an S2000.... not a miata actually, i would like to own a miata one day, sure would be fun to add some extra hp and lighten it a little.... woohoo!

I know you'd have a blast with a Miata. Doesn't have the pulling power or top end of the S, but the car feels so incredibly light on it's feet and the handling is so crisp and communicative.

I will freely admit that I could use a bit more power, though...
