Too bad Hyundai depreciation is out of hand. My parents were looking into buying a Santa-Fe (vs a Toyota Highlander), and the depreciaiton the Santa Fe was like $5k in the FIRST YEAR (taken from previous year sales). True the Toyota was more money, but it also holds value a whole lot better.
The cars might be great, but until the general market agrees with that, it's hard to justify buying this brand when it hurts so much come trade-in time.

The resale values on Hyundais are bad for sure, but a car like this could certainly stem the tide. Again, I think adding a few sporty elements like a manual tranny, or even a sporty version of the car, would go a long way to helping resale.

hyundai is doing fine...they are selling a ton of cars right now and their affordable, reliable cars are what 90% of the population want.....
obviously people here aren't going to care much about a midsize sedan as we drive S2000's, which are hardly profitable for Honda and only sell about 10K/yr anyways. Hyundai sells that many Sonatas (current model) in one month.

I will probably not buy a Hyundai for a long time, but for no real reason, other than, "because it's a Hyundai". Not a good reason really.
I just heard a Kia commercial, Buy one get one free... Probably won't be buying one of those, either

I had an Hyundai XG350 for a rental car and about crapped myself when I saw how nice Hyundai has become. The car was sweet, nothing like the bad old days of Hyundai. If you took the Hyundai badges off it people would be buying them left and right. 3 guys here at work have bought Sonatas in the last year for daily drivers and I must admit, they are nice. If I needed a 4 door daily driver I would seriously consider a Hyundai over an Accord or Camry. Lots less $$$ and about every option is standard.

i think they are actually stealing some sales away from accords and camrys.....
i think they can hold their own against imports and other import midsize sedan offerings from nissan, mitsu, mazda, etc.
