I would take a used 02 or newer 911 anyday over your two choices!
A new Boxster S would put up a pretty good fight against most 911s in the power department. Here's a video of 987.2 PDK vs. 997.1 S:

Can't drive a Boxster because people see you. I'd take the C6 but only as a coupe and minus the stupid wheels.

Drove an '07 Cayman S two days ago, 6 speed manual. It's down about 40~ hp from the 09+, but it was still absolutely fantastic. Everything felt really good, planted, super sturdy. The shifter was decent, kind of numb and vague compared to an S2000 but not bad at all.

Haven't driven a C6 Vert yet, but I'd imagine it'd be amazing. It'd be really hard to choose between a Boxster S and a Vette Vert because I don't like either of them in Convertible form. It'd really come down to which one was cheaper and more reliable. Both are really fast, well handling, high quality sports cars that are fun to drive. Hard to go wrong with either one.

Both very different cars. For turn-in, tossability, and legal speed fun... the Boxster hands down. For almost everything else, the Vette.

totally.I drove a Z51 and a Cayman S back to back; it's almost weird that people are comparing them. It's the old scalpel vs battle axe thing.

^ You can take out more people in a shorter amount of time with a battle ax... And without proper training, the scalpel is going to be useless anyway.

(This was a statement about edged tools, not cars)

I picked Boxster S, only because I have never driven one. I also own a Z51 C6, which is pretty close to the Grand Sport.

The one I drove was an 06 Cayman S 6 speed. No fancy automatic for me Handling was amazing and power was not! Either way I do not like the smaller Porsche styling at all
I would still take the 911 even if the Boxster/Cayman was faster because the 911 has a better "FEEL" to it and the styling is much better.
