Would YOU get an Acura TL Type-S or a Lexus IS300?

I have driven and sat in both. For the person that said the IS 300 for performance, I'm not sure what he is talking about as the TL Type S has 260 hp, and actually faster 0-60 & 1/4 mi. times. Personally I would get the Type S as when I sat back in the IS 300 it was absolutely tiny back there. I am 5'9" and I thought it was way, way too small. I would look at the Type S (with Comptech exhast headers, and airflow for that extra little oomph) or maybe even an Infiniti G35. The IS 300 is not really appealing to me (why get a 4 door where only midgets can fit in the back).

TL Type-S. To get an IS300 with 17" wheels and performance accessories, etc, etc is going to jack the price up significantly. It's smaller, RWD (bad in snow), and it has those terrible Altezza-style rear lights.
That said, if you want sportiness over practicality, take the IS300 for sure. Outside of straightline, the Acura won't touch it in any way with regards to performance.
For me, the Acura is the way to go overall - more power, more room, decent performance, and you can take people with you comfortably. If you rarely drive with others, grab the IS300 - more fun, if not so practical.
Oh - if you already have an S2000 (it appears you do), get the TL. You already have a sports car - grab a near-luxury sport touring sedan to complement it.

I can't compare the two since I haven't even sat in a TL, but I do own a IS300. Great car! Very well balanced, fun RWD, sporty I6 for 215hp (I believe). I wasn't very fond of the interior dashboard styling when I went to look at them, but it really grows on you. I believe it's a perfect combination of sport and luxury. The leather seats with the Escaine is just great! The ride is smooth and the interior noise is pretty quite but it's also a fun car to throw around if you get in the mood to. I had a 1999 Audi A4 1.8t before I picked up the IS300 and I even went back to the Audi dealership and test drove the 2002 A4, but the IS was just a more superior car. My IS is fully loaded except for the GPS and I believe it came in at about $33k. Great car for the money. You'll get more interior room from the TL and some more horses, but go test drive both before you make your decision. Good Luck!
