Well the question specifically states which two cars he's choosing between... so he's obviously needing 4 doors, which the CL doesn't have. I would take the Lexus IS over the TL. I have driven both and I just like the feel of the RWD IS, and the I6 engine. Plus you can get it with a manual transmission, something the TL doesn't offer. The handling is also a lot tighter on the IS. The TL might be faster in the straightline, but mods on the IS are simple and there's tons out there. I personally like Toyota/Lexus vehicles over Honda/Acura vehicles. Other things that you might need to consider, the back seat in the TL is a lot larger, so if you are tall yourself, and your friends riding in the back are tall too, then the IS will be tighter than the IS, but the IS isn't bad either. I'm 6 feet tall, and I can sit behind my friend who is also 6 feet in his IS. Just maybe not for long trips. You're in California.. so you don't need to worry about winter tires for the IS. Hope this helps...

I think all the Acuras (except the RSX and NSX) are unattractive, so I'd go for an IS300. The RWD and manual tranny help a lot, too. If you've already got RWD and manual with the S2000 and want something big and easy to drive and don't mind the Acura styling, then get a TL.

The Honda loyalist in me is shouting out Acura TL TypeS!
The TL TypeS looks more like a refined luxury sedan with a performance flair. The IS300 looks like a compact sport sedan.
The Acura TL TypeS is a better value, IMO.

Also, one thing you just got to remember when comparing the two is that the TypeS does not include those awful looking rear "altezza" style tail lamps!

TL looks badass with the factory bodykit and bigger rims and lowered!!!!! If I was older, I would get TL-S but for younger looks, I would get the IS.. IS's inside looks like crap..
