Which would you choose and why? A6 or 335i sedan?

I love the S6 by the way but not sure if I can afford it in the next few years.
By the way, I have a 80 mile round trip commute to work everyday. LA to OC so that's about 500 miles a week.

A6 is the direct competitor to the 5 series. 5 series dimensions are better suited for longer commutes and heavy mileage. 5 series is the workhorse sedan of the BMW line up; the model used for fleet cars, cabs, etc...

Depreciation is worse on the 3 series I believe and gas is almost the same

Maybe as a percentage of the purchase price, but w/o looking it up I'm almost certain that a 5 would lose more $ value than a 3. Comparing depreciation % isn't that relevant, since it's not an investment and we lose real $. 3 is also better for tight streets and parking spots. I like the 5, but it's bigger than I need even for a family car.

oh i agree. Even as a family car, imho id rather have a Q5/X3/Evoque. But if OP is considering a a6, 535 M package is a good competitor, if not a better/sportier option.
