My mom had the same problem when all of us were in the van with her. She kept blowing a gasket. Probably had to do with the divorce...

ive worked in dealerships since i was 15 so ive seen alot of bad stuff go down, but the worst personal expiernece i has was much like quick's.

earlier this year when i was trying to sell my s2k, i found a nice, very clean green 98 civic EX coupe 5sp at Honda of Seattle. a salesmen and i emailed and had many phone conversions reguarding the car/deal. i live about 35miles south of seattle and made it very clear that i did NOT want to waste a trip up north on a 3k car. they agree and i head out.

i get there they test drive my s2k, and then disapear like always. now remember my dad has worked in teh car biz for YEARS and i myself have for a soild 10yrs so i know the game.

my s2k was a 02 with 47k on it, good condition. two door dings, and needed a buff job(damn you berlina black). i told them i wanted 16k for the s2k and so in lue, i wanted the civic plus a check for $2500. now remeber we ALREADY AGREED on this deal.

so the short, fat little fagoo of a salesmanger comes out and tells me that theres no market for s2k's and that he would need to put to much money(like a dent guy and a detail) into it, and he can only offer me 9k for my s2k.

i hit the roof. no this is one of those dealerships with no offices, its all just tables on a big showroom. i start going off on how hes trying to make a month outta me and that hes going to spend $150 on the car and list it for 19k, and that blue book/Nada/Kelly's all book it for much more. that me and the salesmen agreed on a deal, i then presented him with the printed out emails. i just lost it. told the sales manager that he was a **&^'ing rimtard to think that im going to let him bend me over and that i wonder how much their bending over the other customers for.

im usually a calm guy too, but damn that just made my blood boil.

BTW three months later i traded the s2k in at a caddy dealer and got 16.5k for it.

NEVER go to Honda of Seattle.

Thats when you flash the $5k cash in his face and say "look you fat ****, this would have bought you pizza and ice cream for a month."

My worst isn't in the Sales department.

I financed a used '95 Integra GSR though the dealership and a week later they tried to get me to sign a new contract with a higher price because of a paperwork issue on their end (not an issue with my credit)!

On the servicing side, my closest Chevy dealer, Gateway, refused to service my '03 Z06 because they couldn't get it on their lift. I had lowered it using the built-in lowering bolts, as discussed on the DVD that comes with the car. Those clowns were unwilling to put a couple of 2x4's in front of their lift! I never ever went back there for ANYTHING.

Funny...I've been both sides of the business.
Neither dealers or buyers are great to deal with.

Dealers need to make money and buyers don't wanna spend it.
How do you fix that medium?

Probably when I was 18. I went to a Vdub dealership. I was looking at a mint, used, VR6. After standing around the car for 15 minutes a salesman came out. I told him I wanted to drive it. He then started insulting me and asking me how I could even afford it. Asked how old I was, if I was going to have a cosigner, etc. I told him that I needed to drive it first before getting into payment options. He told me I couldn't afford it and started to walk away. At that point I told him to turn around and whipped out a ten grand stack of 100's that I had just pulled out of the bank. (Had been saving for years.) I cussed at him and told him he just lost a sale. An ex-girlfriend was dating the owner's son so I went in and found him in the dealership. The salesman was following me with this oh shit look on his face. I told the owner who I was and how I knew his name, etc. He said I should have just came in and spoke with him first. He chewed the living shit out of that salesman right in front of me. I kept looking at him with the biggest shit eating grin on my face. He walked out of the office. I shook the owner's hand and said maybe next time and went and bought a '91 GS Turbo (mitsu eclipse). It wasn't a bad experience I guess.

Another one was purchasing an '06 C6 Z51. After agreeing to a price for my S2k, and accepting my GM certificate. When the car came in, they went down on my trade-in value, refused to accept my Certificate and then bumped up the % rate I was supposed to get so I left. And they wanted to videotape the signing. I was not amused. But no harm no foul. I don't get angry negotiating. In fact it's fun. They always try to pull an initial trick but they always figure out I'm out the door if they don't do what I WANT. I walk into a dealer and give them my terms, tell them I won't budge, and if they try I will walk. It works every time. They can't screw you over if you don't let them. I negotiate everything before giving them any concrete info (soc sec #, etc) and let them know if they don't stick to their deal I'm out faster than a cat can lick his ass.

These days I end up going to the dealer to negotiate for many of my friends. Salesman is always pissed too. Always asking who I am and why I am there. Haha, I should start up a service. It's like Xmas to me any time I get to go to a dealer and do it.

Here's the short version.

I drop off Geo Tracker for its first service at local chevy dealer with late night service crew at 4:30 pm. I removed aftermarket stereo faceplate and lock in glovebox. As I talk to service writer the service runner kid (about 17-18 years old) drives car away but halfway through the service bay he stops the car and starts leaning over. (he is checking glove box for faceplate) It seems odd but I don't think much of it.

I go home. About 8 pm my phone rings and the mechanic who just got the paper work went out to get the car and the dash is ripped up, and my stereo is gone. The dealership wanted to alert me out of courtesy because "it happens from time to time and I might want to call MY insurance agent." They refuse to pay.

I go up to the dealer, the only people to have the keys were the service runner (18 year old kid) and middle aged mechanic with a family in four hours time. Window was not smashed, glove box was not pried open, it was unlocked with a key (not even a scratch) and a couple tools from a shop tool set are left in the front which were used to pry the dash apart. But the tools are not from this mechanics personal set.

Dealer finally agrees that the kid probably did it and agrees to replace dash parts and pay for CD player but will not fire the kid.

"His parents buy a car from us once a year." Great.

When I bought my EP3, I got a killer deal on it as a lease. The next day, after all the paperwork is signed and I'm already driving the car, they call me to "let me know" that my payments are going to be about $27 higher than what they told me that they were going to be.

I kept arguing with them that we had already agreed and we had a contract, so they started negotiating! I "got him down" to only $15 more than we had agreed on when I just told him that I'd think about it and call him tomorrow.

this was only the second car that I had ever purchased and my dad did everything for the first one, so I really didn't know if they had any recourse or anything, it all just seemed so strange.

So after I talked to a few people who told me that there was nothing that they could do, I called him back and told him "no thanks, I'd rather not pay more." The salesman basically started begging "please just pay $8 more". again, I politely declined.

At first I thought this was a bait & switch technique because they probably could tell that I was inexperienced, but they seemed so desperate to get more money, and the deal really was good, so I actually wonder if they screwed up a little.

All my payments plus the buy amount at the end of 4 years came to about $18k, which was a little less than the sticker.
