Will Toyota take over the auto world?

In the United States, Honda is more successful than Toyota is. Besides Insight and S2000, the rest of the Honda lineup are doing very good. Accord, Civic, Odyssey, Pilot, CR-V breaks the 10,000 units mark monthly easily. Elements can do like 5000-7000 units per month. Honda has eight models with eleven body styles(Accord sedan, Accord coupe, Civic sedan, Civic coupe, Civic Si, S2000, Odyssey, CR-V, Pilot, Element, Insight). Honda sells around 100,000 units per month. Toyota has nineteen models with twenty something body styles(Camry, Solara coupe, Solara convertible, Corolla, Matrix, Tacoma's different cabs, Tundra's different cabs, Sienna, Highlander, 4Runner, RAV4, Prius, Sequioa, xB, xA, tC, Land Cruiser, Celica, Echo 4 door, Echo 2 door, Avalon, MR2 Spyder). And Toyota sells around 150,000 units per month. Toyota has more than twice more models than Honda does but only about 50% more sales. Without considering Lexus and Acura, I say Honda is even more successful than Toyota in the United States. But as far as General Motors, it is really difficult for Toyota to catch up in the sales department, GM is way too big and crowded with different brands. Some of the GM vehicles are so similar but wears different badges.

Toyota will catch up in no time. In fact, they are already knocking at the door.

True Toyota has trucks and more SUVs. The Prius is way more succesful than any Honda Hybrid.
I don't think Honda is doing badly, but I doubt they will ever catch up or pass Ford much less Toyota or GM in US sales.

i'm looking for them to trounce the current US dominated aviation industry: Honda & Toyota are both racing to the starting gate in this arena, and the US manufacturers are un-prepared to meet the coming onslaught

In total sales, Honda is small potatoes compared to Toyota. Except for the Japanese market, I don't think Toyota even considers Honda a "real" Competitor. They are competing with the big boys(GM, FORD, DC, VW).

true they sell more cars than anyone else.. but do they inspire the same passion as some other manufacturers? i've never had any aspirations to own a toyota.. in fact, i'd bet that the majority of toyota branded vehicle owners consider their car as a car and nothing more. BUT, i do like the way they market their Lexus line during the holidays with those big red bow commercials .
i'd buy my wife or kid a toyota.. for me, you'd have to give me the car for free to own one.
