I agree. I sold and delivered the first touring and elite at my dealership so far and im quite impressed with the new features and luxury. It has a lot of features found in $100k suv's for less than $50k..

Kind of bummed I didn't wait for the new pilot. Granted I think my 15 mdx looks a little better inside and out I could have gotten top end model of the pilot for a little less than my awd tech model mdx.
Top end pilot gives same options and features as mdx advance model plus entertainment.
Pilot also offers more space I believe.

yeah in canada theres a bigger price difference like 12k from MDX elite, to the pilot elite(touring in canada)
does not have sh-awd but i dont think many people really take advantage of it anyways.

As Jonboy noted, I had my heart set on a pilot w/ 3rd row seating (a used one), but it's just not as practical as a minivan. You can get a few yr old used Sienna for ~$20k, which is hard to beat imo. I guess it depends what you want though, I just want a practical vehicle and don't care about a lot of fancy features.

We were that close to buying a minivan (just could not justify spending $30k+ for a body I hate)....yes I know it's practical since most of my buddies have one!
We needed a vehicle to tow our toys and the minivan would not work so that meant we needed TWO cars so finally talked the wifey into buying a large SUV to do both...best thing ever! Granted I have never realy looked into American cars we just loved the Escalade/Yukon/Tahoe cars for their versatility. Dealer would not discount much since they said the cars literally sell off the lot at sticker. We ended up with a Denali since it had all the cool features (2nd row captains, trailer brakes, Rear entertainment, radar cruise, retractable side steps) without paying the Cadillac premium (nearly $100k).
I think if you don't need towing ability the MDX/Pilot is great (my brother has a Pilot) but the one thing I hated about those SUV's besides the lack of towing is the bench 2nd row. The biggest attraction of the minivan is the pass through middle to the 3rd row. I wish the MDX offered this. The new 2016 Pilot does offer Captain's row seating but only in the Elite models.
