Why won't V-Tec engage

Using regular pump gas, RPM does go all the way up, don't know if is is noticable or not like I said its my buddies car and I'm just trying to help him out.....I've never even rode in a D-series before...lol

You will not hear, or feel the VTEC kick with a D series motor the same as a B/K/H/F DOHC VTEC motor. My guess is that nothing is wrong with your friends car.

make sure the car is warm when you vtec. vtec will not kick in if its still cold.

How many miles on it? My sons Civic had 140k on it. VTEC wouldn't engage without 50W oil in it because the motor was so worn out.

My '95 had a b16 in it from the factory.

My first guess based on experience with mine would have been oil level. If it's not that, I don't know.

We have these and they're pretty reliable and good.

Yes, and your B16 is VERY different than this D16
